What To Do After GCSEs: A Levels or Work?

When you’ve finished your GCSEs, it’s time to decide what to do next. Of course, there’s always the option of continuing your studies with A Levels, but there are also plenty of opportunities out in the world of work. Let’s take a look at both options and see which one is right for you.

A Levels

If you’re keen to go on to university and pursue a degree, then A Levels are the way to go. Plus, studying for A Levels gives you a good amount of time over two years to really get stuck into the subject matter, making sure you understand it thoroughly before heading off to university.                                                                                 

Work Experience

On the other hand, if you’re not sure that university is right for you just yet, then work experience might be something to consider. You can gain valuable skills such as communication and teamwork while getting an insight into different industries – both invaluable experiences in their own way. Plus, if any opportunities come up that excite you during your work experience placements or internships then why not take them? You never know where they might lead!

Apprenticeships

Finally, apprenticeships are a great way to combine academic study with hands-on learning in the workplace – all while earning money too! You can find apprenticeships across many different sectors and industries meaning there’s something out there for everyone – no matter what interests them! Apprenticeships are becoming increasingly popular these days as they offer young people an alternative route into higher education without having to commit two or three years straight away.
